To define Joe Chindamo by listing his many talents and interests would be accurate but misleading. Yes, he is an improvising pianist with impressive jazz credentials, and also a contemporary classical composer, an arranger, a recording artist, a vocal accompanist, a theater composer, and a chamber music collaborator. And yet his diverse roles are all facets of one artistic personality, encompassing activities that, in other eras, would simply be the understood definition of a working musician. In Symbiosis, his fourth recording with violinist Zoë Black, Chindamo traverses centuries and continents to elaborate this singular perspective.
